RUPES 21es RPM question
hello,
so after disappointing experience with meguairs mt300,
i decided to upgrade to rupes 21es, (which i am still waiting on to get here )
anyways .. I just saw that rupes 21es max RPM is 4400...
and little confused me on what setting to use for cutting and polishing. ....
coming from MT300, 3000-7500 OPM setting, word RPM confuses me a little....
could I simply ignore this and compound at setting 5-6 and polish at 4-5 setting?

Re: RUPES 21es RPM question
4000 opm on the 21, 5000 opm on the 15. You can compound and polish on 4-5.

is that mean RPM = OPM?

Re: RUPES 21es RPM question
On a random orbital polisher, the terms OPM and RPM can become a little a confusing. The way the the polisher works is that it converts motor RPM into shaft RPM. In the case of the of the BigFoot, this ratio is 4.8:1...
So the motor spins at maybe 28k RPM, which translates to 4200 shaft RPM. At the end of the shaft is the assembly which creates the orbital movement.
So.... shaft RPM and OPM are identical and the tool can be categorized either way.

Thank you very much. To my knowledge the only tachometer that could read my head RPM would be throw off by how imbalanced the shape my my head is.
I supposed it is lucky I work for RUPES who figured out how to counter balance such a large orbit, otherwise I would probably need a neck brace
Seriously, thank you.

I used to own a speed3. I've gone to the opposite end of the spectrum and now drive a Chevy Volt... lol. Yes, that is my girlfriend's CBR.
