HELP: How to remove Tire Coating
So my tires have a few coats of the TW tire coat (can stuff).
Is there a way to remove this stuff with out damaging the tire using a wire brush as I have seen recommended?
The last coat was applied over a year ago, and the car has sat for almost all that time.

Just curious, why do you wanna remove it? Pics? I ask because I'm a HUGE fan of the other TW tire coating, the one that comes in the box w/ the tire cleaner, coating ( 8 oz bottle, liquid) a pair of gloves and the special applicator.

Re: HELP: How to remove Tire Coating
I will take some tomorrow. It is brown and a lot of build up.
I know in the other thread you mentioned trying to top it, I don't know if you tried it but it has not worked for me. I tried Meg's Endurance and Hyper Dress (4:1 dilution) and both flung off even after at least an hour dry time.

Only effective way I've found is 3000+ PSI pressure washer and a lot of time.

I'll give it a whirl, maybe try a fine spray nozzle than the one I use on the cars

Same here. It's impossible. I gave up several months ago. I have come to the conclusion that it is just clear coat spray paint.

I have a technique that worked to get some very nasty 3M adhesive off paint. Dunno if it works on tires - but I think it's worth a shot.
You get a MF wax applicator pad (like the square ones at AG), then dampen it with mineral spirits. After that, add a few blobs of compound to the working area of the pad. Use the pad as a scrubber. The combo of compound abrasives and MS seem to really do a lot of removal work. Remember, compounds are like liquid sandpaper. So, you want an aggressive compound here.
I can't see compound abrasives scratching a tire too bad. I can't see a little bit of MS damaging a sidewall either. I just would clean it well with APC after.
Another possibility would be a Magic Eraser.
After you get this Turtle mess off - check out Tuff Shine. TS is removable by scrubbing the tire with their cleaner. However, you never need to remove it - because it doesn't "brown", peel, or turn to sticky goo. I've had it on tires for over a year (it has been topped off) - but tires have never been scrubbed and look good as new.

From what I've read about the tire coating it seems to me its the aerosol coatings that seem to be the problem, both Tuff Shine and TW, I haven't heard any issues so far with the TW tire coating that's in liquid form. I'm a couple monthes into using it (TW liquid coating) and have had NO issues.

Re: HELP: How to remove Tire Coating
I actually had no issues with the can stuff. I may try the Liquid, it looked tempting at Autozone, but right now I'm over it.

You might want to try something that dissolves paint, because that's exactly what that stuff is.
