    Anyone seen this issue before?

Ive noticed these deep scratches or nicks on the top of my rear bumper located just beneath the trunk. I am not sure where they are coming from but I noticed a few about a year ago and now I have seen a substantial increase. The only thing I can relate it to is noticing more after going on a road trip.

Any one have any ideas? Any easy fixes other than a respray? I thought about touching them all up with Dr. Colorchip.

Um...I hate to ask the obvious question...but did your road trip include taking any luggage or supplies in and out of the trunk?

Exactly....see it every day. 99% of cars have this from putting things in and out of the trunk. Sand, compound, polish. Done.

Yep. I got a Scion TC for my son when he went to college. I put a clear protective strip there to prevent exactly those. He removed it because it developed a bubble. Now it looks 10X worse than those!

He uses the bumper to stage things before loading in the back.........go figure........bubble no good........scratched bumper, just fine?

Like everyone else said its from placing things in and out of your trunk thought I would touch it up and see/place some kind of clear bra for that part of the vehicle to reduce the wear marks

In his defense... i have a TC, and the paint everywhere (especially the bumper) is AWFUL... gets scratched down to primer by practically anything!

Re: Anyone seen this issue before?

I considered the possibility of it being from luggage but being OCD about my vehicle I am always very careful when loading or unloading items from the trunk by lifting up and over rather than dragging the suitcase etc on the bumper. There is one tiny scuff that I caused but i noticed it immediately and it looks a little different. I seem to notice every new mark on my car and I just dont see how I would have instilled that many marks from two-three road trips.

I did allow the bellman to load the luggage but I was watching as he put it in.

They are all small linear scratches that my fingernail gets caught in easily. I just dont think they are related to luggage. Luggage I feel usually causes scuffs and scratches.

I wonder if its rocks getting kicked up and caught in a draft?

Looks to me like someone keeps backing up into a bush with some stiff branches.

Am i the ONLY one who thinks that there is VERY little clear on that bumper? Almost as if the clear was gone...
