    Glass Cleaning Driving Me Nuts!

I have an '01Trans Am WS6 with an issue that is driving me absolutely crazy.

I just can't seem to get the glass clean. Even after two or three wipe downs with class cleaner and a lint free cloth - it still shows steaks in the sun. Driving me nuts! I've used tried Invisible Glass, Spray Away, Clearkote Quickshine, Windex (figured what the heck...) - all to no avail. I've tried different cloths - waffle weave glass towels, MF's, even the Scotts paper lint free glass towels and I just can't seem to ever get my glasss clean. It's always streaked when the sun hits it. Almost like I am sort of just spreading the film around on the surface. When the sun hits it athe right angle it's especially noticeable. Just horrible. I've wiped the glass with a dry MF after cleaning and that helps to some degree but it's just never been clean to my satisfaction.

It's mainly an issue on the front and back glass. The car has only 12K miles on it so the glass isn't beat by any means. It's just always streaked no matter how much I clean it.

Any suggestions? Clay maybe? Maybe some Megs 2015 by hand?? Does the vinegar and newspaper trick really work?? Do I use it full strength?

I do have some Duragloss Nu-Glass that I never tried. Should I give it a go? I'm stumped.

    Thanks!!!
    Dan

It's not so much the products as the technique when cleaning glass.

1 towel is used for cleaning the glass, then use a separate dry towel to buff the glass and remove any excess product/streaks. Clean the glass 2-3 times if you're having problems. Also make sure you're using enough glass cleaner.

You can also give it an IPA wipedown to see if that helps.

And make sure your not using too much cleaner either.

Exactly as Scott said above. One towel to clean the window and a clean dry microsoft towel to remove and buff it out.

I use waffle weave MF towels and Sonax glass cleaner for cleaning glass and really never have any issues. Always make sure your using clean towels and are out of the sun.

I have used the Duragloss Nu-Glass and it helped me clean a nasty windshield.
I would give it a try for sure if you have it on hand.
Then go back to your regular cleaning method.

Re: Glass Cleaning Driving Me Nuts!

I always had issues cleaning the glass on cars and it became a pet peeve. I use Stoner Invisible Glass Cleaner which seemed to make things easier for me but not 100%. For the heck of it, I one day sprayed my glass cleaner as usual and then gave the glass a spray of IPA on top of it. Worked like a charm cleaning with the mixture of both while still using proper technique to clean with one towel and final buff with another. Might want to give it a try. GL.

Have you ever polished these windows or cleaned them. I find streaks are easy to be left behind if you don't prep the surface of your glass and clean them really well. A product like DP Glass Restorer is a good start to cleaning a window and getting a streak free shine on following cleaning attempts IME
    Back to the full-time grind.

    Thanks for the replies.

I'm going to clay, use the NuGlass I have on hand, then an IPA wipe, then glass cleaner - if that doesn't do it - I give up!

Clean the glass with DI water and fast glass towels (once any gunk is off). There is no chemicals or minerals in the water to leave streaks.
