Re: DIY LED Work Light (much better than halogen!)
Great, thanks for the links, hope they stay up. I was a little confused because you referred to the bulb as a "spotlight" and all I could find were floodlights, but your link cleared that up (there is a difference, most of the LED are floods vs. spots, but I can't find a definition of what the difference is, other than common sense that the spot will be a narrower beam). BTW Home Depot has a Philips 5000K 1300 lumen PAR38 flood, 19.5 watts, $32.
Thanks again for this, I can't believe how easy it is to make this setup.

Sorry... spot light, flood light, I used those terms interchangeably in this write up while in my head they truly do mean different things... I apologize for the confusion.
The bulbs are in fact flood light bulbs.
Yup, this setup is very easy... in fact, it is "less assembly required" than most setups purchased from the hardware store.

No problem, apparently the reason I couldn't find a definition is there isn't one (no standards for this), so the terms probably don't mean much really. If I knew this could be made plug-and-play (without any fab) I would have done it a long time ago--thanks again!

That's an awesome light Zach!
I don't know much about electrical but is there is a concern using a $9 bulb base for extended hours? such as it might catch a fire due to the high lumen output?

Those bulbs are only dissipating 23 watts each, nothing is going to get hot.

Yes... I can only imagine how expensive they would be.
But what really peaked my interest was that portion about having white reflectors instead of silver. Nothing I have tried yet, but seems like something a DIY'er could modify on their existing light sources without too much trouble?

As previously mentioned, these bulbs only use 23W of power each... that is less than your typical incandescent bulb which these bases were originally created for, therefore I would not worry about any issues.
Also, the lumen rating is not directly correlated with heat, therefore this should not be of any concern.
