    Swirl Marks

Need some expert advice on removing light swirl marks. Have been using the Meguiars Ultimate Polish by hand and have removed some of the marks on the hood but not all. Any suggestions on what I'm missing on doing this? Thanks for all your info and help. Clinton in Okc,OK.

You can use a Portal Cable 7424 which is really good at removing swirls. Have you been using a Orange pad? Orange are for cutting, green for light cutting, and White for polishing.

You can use some light cutting compounds to remove the swirl marks such as CG V36 and then finally a polisher....that's what I did with my brothers 2008 Mustang GT

If you are seriously interested in removing swirls marks then you will most likely need a DA Polisher and then do some research online on how to remove swirls. Doing it by hand will not yield the results you are probably looking for.

I purchased one a month ago and it is the most used tool in my garage now. It is fantastic. I just wet sanded the hood of my Jeep and polished it with the PC and it looks and feels fantastic.

Do your research though...it will save you time and give you better results. The DA polisher is noob proof. I would practice on crappy car then move on to the Mustang.

Ultimate Polish, especially by hand, is not what you need.

Buy a bottle of Menzerna PF 2500 (Power Finish) here on Autogeek. You will be amazed at the difference. Also get an 4" Lake Country Orange Polishing pad and a "polishing pal" to hold it if you want.

Just my suggestion as a hand-polisher for 20+ years.

edit: What they are saying about the machine is true, it's a game changer, but maybe you don't want to put down $150 just to remove some light swirls.

    Re: Swirl Marks

You can get a cheaper DA polisher at HF and pads too although you need a new backing plate or modify the one that it comes with. All of it can be done by hand no doubt it will take quite some time and possibly trial and error with products. There is also the possibility of someone close to you that could help you or loan you a machine or even let you try a few different polishes by hand they may have to see if it works for you.

    Re: Swirl Marks

If you don't own a DA try using the Wolfgang Uber Compound by hand, it's one that works well doing it by hand.
Just remember to keep your work area very small, like 12x12".

You won't remove swirls using the Ultimate Polish.
When you can buy yourself a DA, you'll then be able to use Meguiar's Ultimate Compound which only cost ten bucks.

I have the EZ Grip hydro-tech hand pads,

The Cyan pad is for cutting, I was able to remove light swirls with it combined with Wolfgang total swirl remover..
