Extractor????
What do you guys use to clean carpets and upholstery? I was thinking about getting a extractor but wanted to know if it was worth the price or is there something cheaper that would bee good to start out with?

Re: Extractor????
Extractors are great for large areas of heavily stained upholstery but a steamer, a cloth, and a brush/DA pad can handle most average interior stains. Extractors arent necessary but certainly helpful. We use it primarily for car mats that should be thrown away anyways, but need to be cleaned for the customer.

Thanks guys, I was thinking of a Bissell green machine.
Extractor s with shipping to hawaii is a arm and a leg so I think I'll go with something cheaper. I also have a cyclo so I'm gonna get the carpet pads. Thanks.

I remember seeing a Mytee extractor on the Honolulu Craigslist last week. If you got the money, I'd definitely take a look at it.

Re: Extractor????
Thanks but I dont feel comfortable buying one off craigslist from Oahu without looking at it and testing it out first. If it was on Maui then I would feel more comfortable. I think ill just go with a bissel for now and some carpet brushes for my orbital. See how far I can get with that. Thanks.

Re: Extractor????
You can make due without it. I went years using nothing but a bucket of hot water, a 6hp shop vac, scrub brushes, apc, a load of cotton towels and elbow grease
If you do decide to buy an extractor make sure your home can handle the load (unless you have a generator you plan on using for power source). The Mytee's that were mentioned require 20amps. The Aztec Hot Rod only requires 15amps
Mytee is known to have HORRIBLE customer service. That was the deciding factor for me buying a Aztec Hot Rod

Re: Extractor????
I use mostly steam on most cars and there are times where an extractor is needed. With that said no need to spend a lot of $$$$ on one if your a one man shop. I spent $400 on mine and works great when I need it. The only time I think you need the bigger one is if your doing production cleaning. I can't name the one I bought on here.

Bissell LGM works great for the home user. I got some different end pieces off ebay for different situations. They make 3" and 4" and one with deep injector tips, meant for pet stains, but works great on any stain.
