    Tesla Tips & Techniques

Thought some of this would be helpful for you all.

As many of you know, Tesla Model S cars are delivered personally to buyers - usually on the back of a trailer. Tesla service centers are notorious for doing (outsourcing, really) bad detail jobs prior to delivery and after servicing. Your brand new $90k car comes complete with swirls and RIDS!

Some of the firmware updates allow a little more flexibility in detailing the Model S.

I'll put in here a few tips and techniques and flush out the thread as I think of others.

    WIPERS

These are intentionally buried below the hood and it's hard to lift them up to clean the cowl and windshield.

With firmware 5.8 you can enter into a wiper service mode. Just go to the Model S settings:

Switch to ON. Make sure you turn the wipers completely off using the wand attached to the steering column. Voila:

Unfortunately, you cannot completely lift them up, but it is easier to clean the wipers, glass and cowl now.

    CLEANING THE CONSOLE

Tired of trying to wipe down the 17 inch screen and trying to prevent it from selecting various buttons, changing the radio station or basically going haywire?

    Enter the screen cleaning mode.

Enjoy a blank screen that will allow you to clean all those finger prints. Anyone want to clean mine?

    That's it for now.

I will add some things later.

Very helpful, now if someone around me would buy one and find me for me to clean it for them.

These suggestions work with firmware 5.8 and I think 5.6.
