    Layering sealant and topping

    Does anyone think there is a real advantage to this? Am i really layering anything or just removing access product?

    I just put 2 coats of Menz Power Lock on my whole car. I then taped half of the hood and door and applied Pinn Sov Carnuba. I can't tell one bit of difference.

    Starting to wonder if I'm just wasting time and product.

    Yes you are. After 2 applications it is a waste of time and product. Personally I would of done 1 layer of pl and top it with a nuba

    Re: Layering sealant and topping

    Some people can see depth and/or gloss more than others. If you cannot see much difference then in theory, for your eyes, product is wasted only if you say it is.

    I once applied Mothers Reflections Top Coat over a layer of Mothers Reflections Auto Wax. I applied it in a small section of my hood as a test. Only in the right light, at the right angle, did I see a difference. Was it a waste of product for me based on looks alone? Yes. Was it a waste of product knowing I have that additional protection layer on my paint? No.

    Practically speaking, 2 sealant layers topped with Carnauba is not off the deep end based on many articles I have read over the years.

    I think two coats can be beneficial for added protection as long as they are thin. Wax is for protection. Not for enhancing gloss, in my opinion.

    The benefit to putting on two coats of sealant is to ensure even coverage.

    I suppose it’s really up to you to decide if you want the extra, although very minute amount (~a few millionths of an inch thick) of a:

    -Not so long-lived, (but very effective against: acid rain, bird poop, industrial fallout, brake/rail-dust), sacrificial-barrier;

    -The "jetting effect";

    -The lower melting-point/then the inevitable: "stickiness" (than polymer sealants);

    -But, not so much in the way of UV-protection…

    That a carnuba wax offers atop your polymer sealant…Or not.

    -Of course, this Menzerna polymer sealant should provide some of the above attributes as well.

    I apply first layer of sealant with DA and blue pad then another by hand (after curing of course).

    I think layering helps me cover something I might miss since its so thin I can barely see it sometimes.

    I'm too new to fully understand what your saying. Can you break that down to some simpler terms?
    Are you saying that the Carnuba will get sticky over time?
    What is "jetting effect"?
    I just thought that layering sealant and topping with a good Carnuba was going to be some crazy great improvement in appearance. Just doesn't look any different to my eyes.
