clear coat peeling front bumper, opti-coat?

I'm about to do a paint correction with m105 and m205 on my gf's 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Its got the usual automatic car wash scratches and swirls since she frequently takes it through them. And I'm sure she won't stop using them and I don't have the time to was her car regularly with our schedules. I was thinking opti-coat sounds like it would hold up better in auto car washes than waxing and like I said I don't have the time to keep up on the exterior maintanence. Does this sound like a good idea?

The other problem is her front bumper, for some reason, has a few small places where the clear coat has chipped off and begun to peel. I don't know if shell ever have it painted but I pointed it out when she bought it and of course being a girl she never noticed it before purchasing the car. Should this stop me from opti-coating it? Is it stupid to opticoat everything but the front bumper and just continue to wax the bumper instead until/if she gets it fixed?

What's my best move here? I've already got opti-coat and wax so either way that's best.

A photo of the defect would help a lot.

Most finishes are not perfect. You can fill the chips with a dab of clear or ignore them completely and apply the coating around them.

A properly prepped and clean surface is most important...

Re: clear coat peeling front bumper, opti-coat?

I don't have pictures and I'm doing it tomorrow morning so by the time I'm able to take them ill already be hard at work. I was worried it may make it difficult to repaint with the opti-coat on.

So should I do the bumper up to or right over where the clear is peeling or avoid the bumper all together? Then I was thinking they usually blend the paint into the hood and fenders so maybe I shouldn't do those either. What do you think?

Just coat everything. All you need is a light polish to remove the Opti coat when you decide to paint.

OC isn't gonna fix peeling clear. Just have some Vinyl applied over it.

I never thought it would. I'm just trying to get educated opinions on whether to coat the bumper or not. I'm not attemtping to fix the peeling clear coat, just trying to remove swirls and scratches and have a lon lasting protection.

Its not going to hurt to coat the bumper. Don't expect any miracles, it'll probably look just as bad as it did before.

It does. But I expected that. I just wanted to keep it clean longer/easier to wash. I only managed to wash the whole car, clay the front end and klasse all in one and opticoat the front end only in 6 hours...newb. lol
