new to rotary polishing..no rotary polisher..

Well it just came across my mind. It would be something serious if i knew how to use a rotary because i only have experience with a da. I have just a couple of questions. Can't i get a dewalt from a hardware store and just buy a backing plate from ag and some pads? I'd like to get some panels from the junky yard and practice, but how do i start practicing? I know i won't be doing slow section passes like a da lol. I need some technique! im really not searching for anything too fancy but i need a decent rotary that will do the job because i may just stick to a da to be on the safe side....But maaan i don't think that will happen lol^

Getting a hood from a local body shop or a wrecking yard is a really good idea...

Here's some pictures of people brand new to the rotary buffer practicing on an old 2-door chevy...

    Yer post is very confusing.
Yes any rotary will accept the backing plates made for a rotary. You can just buy them from AG and practice on some junk yard panels.

go to the tool manufacturer's website and do a dealer locator search and see if there's anyone close by you can purchase it from in person. depending on the price, it may or may not be cheaper to buy online. if you don't already have a backing plate and pads, you'll need to purchase those as well...

If you're just looking to try out a rotary you might want to check out Harbor Freight. I bought mine there a few years ago to polish up some wet sanding I had to do. It came with a backing plate, a wool pad, and a foam pad.
