I think people only use those for sanding.

I have the Griots 3" pneumatic and it's pretty good. The on/off trigger mechanism is a bit funky, but overall it does a good job. Not the power of my porter cable or a rotary setup with a 3" attachment, but...significantly better then by hand and the places u need this unit don't usually get as many swirls or rids, so it's more light duty polishing. It's super lightweight and can easily be handled with one hand. Also the included backing plate is exactly 3" so u get an exact fit with the LC HT 3" pads. I'm running a Husky 28 gallon upright compressor at 100 psi and the motor is running full time while the machine is engage - so it gets loud and annoying after a while. I would recommend it for the hobbyist but not for commerical use. For pro usage, I would contact Kevin Brown, he sells the type of unit required for that type of application.

I have a Ingersol Rand 6 inch. Very rarely does it even come out. It uses a lot of air and is hard to get the speed just right. I also have a large upright compressor and it also runs most of the time. Depending on the season, ambient temp and if your hose lays on concrete you run the risk of getting water at your polisher.

    good explanations
noise, heat, moisture, probly hard to regulate rotation/control
was very curious, didn't seem like it would be too popular
