In my many hours of walking my dogs around I've always looked, and judged, the paint on all the vehicles I pass, and Lexus has always looked the best, especially the metallics. Super smooth, no orange peel, and consistent, the paint actually looks like it's still liquid. Looks nice, we don't get the TX model over here, yet, but I would probably go for GX 550 for myself.

Being a long time Landcruiser fan I originally was after an LX model but the sole dealer here hasn't had one in forever
My next pick was the GX but when we actually went in with the intent to buy the only 2 they had were spoken for and they were quoting a 4-6 month wait, plus the boss hated the running boards and couldn't get up in it easily (she was only a week out from spinal fusion surgery)
The other issue is that either the LX or GX are body on frame builds and despite all the Lexus suspension magic they ride more like my old 4Runner or Tacoma than a luxury car
We spotted the TX and started looking and asking questions and honestly, it ticked all our boxes except a trailer hitch, but they offered one and just had to order the parts
The pictures are picking it back up from the dealer after the hitch was installed, the undercoating was done, as well as the other extras the boss selected
The TX is a true 3 row vehicle and holds 6 adults comfortably, or us and the pooch and whatever else we need
It handles like a much smaller vehicle and rides like a luxury car
It is AWD and Hybrid and has a 4 cylinder turbo engine with independent front and rear electric motors as well and puts out 366 hp
It is no street racer because it weighs a bit over 5,000 lbs but if you need to move and you punch it you will MOVE
I have to agree with you on the paint, so far I haven't seen a single flaw in it
It's still in "no car washing" zone following the ceramic coating but I went over it with a fine tooth comb on the showroom floor and after delivery
And because someone will ask why I got dealer installed coating, let me say that I didn't, the boss did
We were at the dealer for almost 4 hours and as I said she was a week out from surgery and by the time we sat down to iron out the final details she was exhausted and when they hit us with all the add on packages she was to the point she said fine to the whole enchilada
It was not my first color choice but the colors for the model are severely limited and so far the dealer has only been able to get pearl whit and this celestial silver or whatever its called
This is my ride as it sits
I think I have some idea of how an addict feels when they are Jonesing and cannot score
I have a week to go before I can wash it and it’s torture
I may need an intervention

I agree about the quality of Lexus paint and it having little orange peel. My dad has a ES that I just recently sealed. It was a pleasure doing so
It's true that colors are limited. Other than the grey he got, there was only one or two others to choose from, otherwise, yes, gotta wait 4 months
At least they would be taking pride in painting the vehicles during that time.
My other Lexus was made in Japan and the paint actually has more orange peel than the new one
It's not horrible by any means but it isn't glass smooth like the new one
The new car was build in Indiana
I will say the rear lift gate is not as well aligned as it could be and that is very unlike Lexus, they are known for the precision they use in fitting body panels
It is on my short list of gripes for the dealer to look at
The boss loves riding in it and I love driving it so all in all we got what we were looking for
Enjoyment is what matters most
4 months before the car comes in. I had to wait that for my Audi
