I can understand, that front end isn't for everyone but I'm very appreciative when mfgs "go out on a limb" with styling. It's better than "play it safe" i.e. the C8, nothing stands out there at all....IMHO. I'll take that yellow Supra w/ some dark matte bronze Volk TE37's and at that point just call it a day over the C8

Finally found some trails not far from home to try out. According to the manual you're meant to use 4WD high range for about half an hour every month, to ensure everything stays lubricated. Any excuse to get out and play. It seems with the coating I have on it, only the really solid mud sticks, all the really liquid stuff just runs off.

Just heading out for our afternoon walk, the sun has just gone down, nice soft light, and yes, it still has mud from last week's trip on it.

How in the hell did these not make it to the States, what a shame....on 2nd thought, probably a good idea, we'd ask for body cladding and lift it 6" in the air and call it an SUV, oh yeah, probably put a 1.6L EcoBoost in it too

Not Invented Here syndrome. There were many attempts from Ford Australia over the years to export the Falcon but it never got off the ground. I suspect there was a lot of internal rivalry that prevented exports.
Funny you mention SUV's. Recognizing the Australian public was gravitating towards SUV's in the late 90's, Ford took the Falcon platform and created an family sized SUV called the Territory, released mid 2004. What they created was a an incredibly well received vehicle that combined some of the Falcon's best features (engine, chassis dynamics) within an on trend SUV body. It was a bit of a pioneer at the time, Ford acknowledging that buyers didn't necessarily need four wheel drive and the associated running costs, offering the Territory in both rear wheel drive and all-wheel drive. It was also lower than most comparable SUV's at the time. Ford also created an interior catering to family life, storage compartments were a big draw-card as was it's seven seat layout. So impressed with Ford Australia's new take on a large family car, Ford US followed suit with the Edge.
Towards the end of Ford's manufacturing in Australia, the Territory ended up out-selling the Falcon, cementing Australia's shift from big sedans to big SUV's.
(Sorry for the Australian history lesson. )
