    Rotary Polishing Technique

I'm getting my first rotary in the next few days (DeWalt 849x) and have been watching a bunch of videos on autogeek as well as other websites to get an idea for proper technique.

I stumbled across this one today...

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o24nHYIEUGc&feature=relmfu]Paint Overspray Removal International Services "industrial paint specialist" Claying Method - YouTube[/video]

It looks like the paintwork finished out pretty well... But it seems so dangerous. I always thought using the side of the pad was a major no-no. Anyone have any comments and/or suggestions?

The guy is the very definition of HACK detailer.
    Please don't learn from him.

If you do an IPA wipedown and inpect in the sun, you will see the holograms.

LOL thanks for the advice. There seem to be more videos on YouTube on "what not to do" then there are of good quality learning material like on AG.

Not exactly how I would've handled it, but if the results came out well, who's to say he did it wrong or is a hack? Technique is something you do to get a certain result, there's no absolute right way to do anything, if it works, it works, if it doesn't, I'm sure he won't stay in business very long, and replaces seals often.

I'm guessing that Jeff Suggs? I can't view the video but the title looks familiar. He had a account on here but might have been banned. Lets just say that his technique is not the best to learn by.

well what you have to keep in mind. to many of us we say the finish is not bad but still has holograms and needs more. To many other people (perhaps clients) that is perfect. TBH his technique probably works for him, looked a little dangerous and uncontrolled, but that is not the elephant in the room. The way the guy was talking i had a hard time figuring out if he was joking or serious lol... little creepy too
