Hand vs machine for waxing ???

I just pulled in a truck from a neighbor who knows that I have a shop in town and says that she just couldn't pass up a full interior for $50 on her pick up so she went for it... Thing is she is moving up north and wants it protected to the max.
Thought about 845, AGHD as well as OS and UPGP... but the kicker is she wants it applied by machine as she has no confidence in hand waxing that the guy did ... Is that a fair argument "hand waxing doesn't last as long as when done by hand vs machine"
Of course I told her the benefit was proper coverage and penetration of the wax onto the paint ... But is there a big diff in doing it by hand? It's been over 20 years since I waxed by hand so ia m really reaching

For wax I prefer hand application. In the case of your client, Opti-Coat would be what I would suggest.

I have never seen a difference in longetivity of the same product applied either way.

Re: Hand vs machine for waxing ???

The only difference I've seen in applying it by hand...is that it's harder to take off. A DA will put a nice thin layer on. The thickness of the layer really doesn't matter since the actual layer of protection is so minuscule.

The wax that is physically visible, is wiped away to the point it's basically invisible. Not matter how thick of a layer you put on...it's going to provide the same level of protection if you ask me.

Now, adding a 2nd, or 3rd coat of wax...that's a different story. In a nut shell, what I'm saying is that you can really only add the same level of protection each time you apply. Adding more layers may certainly improve longevity.

If she wants it applied by machine, by all means apply it by machine. It makes life easier for you.

In general, applying wax by hand is always applied too thick wasting product, making it difficult to remove, and takes twice as long.

Can you apply wax by hand? Yes...............but then again if you have a machine why would you?

The product determines durability not the application method...
