Re: Heavily oxidized paint or worse?? How to polish...

It looks a lot like this job I did right here...

I had to use a rotary, wool pad, 105, and some muscle to get those results, ha. It's most likely a combination of things...swirls, oxidation, clear coat failure. But, it can be repaired. How long will that repair last though? Probably not that long without a repaint.

I highly recommend a rotary in this case. Unless you have a DA with forced rotation...cause that oxidation is gonna fight you.

Alright folks - the work is done.

The work was done by the one and only Thomas Dekany.

    1. double-bucket wash
    2. clay bar (purple)
    3. HD Uno v4
    4. HD Poxy

He also detailed the wheels (tires+rims), wheel wells, plastic, etc.

    Spectacular work.

A couple of flex machines...some wool pads, some MF pads, some orange pads...and a lot of expertise..

Some of the paint thickness was scary low...

Great guy -- highly recommended. The results are far beyond expectations!

    See below.

I will let Thomas describe the specifics...

    Regards, -mark

Well I hope that embarrasses a few of you. I can't believe you guys would write off that paint just because it looked like that. Looks like a few reputations may have just taken a tumble!!!

How about trying, before you do the big write off - needs a repaint, failed clear etc. I don't reckon new forum members need that type of totally negative advice.

I've got one tomorrow, even older, and looks way worse, so I thought I'd see just how good the Megs MF system is. Doubt it will do that much, but then there always M105 and the rotary.

    Congratulations to Thomas Dekany.

I don't see where anyone should be embarrased...All anyone did was offer advice

based on a few pics of not so great quality. I for one, agree that you should try

something to save it first, you never know what results you may get. Just my .02.

That's an amazing recovery! I love that 50/50 hood shot.
I for one thought that paint was done for judging on the pictures

Sob he's already got uno v4? Man it was only a few months ago I bought uno/poxy v3... Damn there r/d and pushing out product is pretty quick.

Also great turn around on the paint. But I agree that the paints probably already been compromised.

I don't think v4 comes out until SEMA.
