    Question how to buff single stage paint?

    Hi all, im curious on what different precautions need to be taken when buffing single stage paint. im sure its much more workable, but have never actually tried working with it.

    advice?

    Same except the pads get dirtier from oxidation and abraided paint. So just keep the pads clean. Some SS can be pretty soft in comparison to modern clears.

    hmm ok. these cars i have to do are show cars and arnt in any form of bad shape. they just need to be polished. all i have is rotary. soo like 1000rpm or so?

    Speed depends on polish too. So to just say xxxxx RPM's is not giving good advise. Check what your polish requires and try a test spot from there. Different polishes break down differently with different RPM's.

    Without a tough clearcoat, you may be working with more delicate edges and ridges. Definitely be generous with the masking tape.

    My recent experience as a newbie with Griots and a couple different polishes:
    DA Practice on 'The Beast': 73 Nova

    If it's not listed, I polished with the Griots on 6 and applied the wax on 3. Dr. Oldz is right about doing a test spot to be certain with your products. Also about pads gumming up quickly. Have a bunch and/or plan to wash every panel.
