Re: Black plastic trim restoration (bumpers, mirror housing, etc)
Thanks for the recommendations. So Opti-coat is also another option? Is it as permanent as C4? I've always been a fan of Optimum (ONR, OID, OCW, etc)... never tried Opti-coat.

<< A quick fix that works pretty well, but is kind of risky, is using a heat gun on the trim. Turns it around pretty well for a good length of time. I've seen people say that they easily get 6 months to a year of quality look by doing this. >>
The above post is correct. I have done extensive testing over a two year period on a Sprinter van. The heat gun turns the plastic to a perfect dark finish. It will last 4 to 6 months.
The problem is that after a few months it is much, much, much worst than before. After it returned to a faded condition, no trim coatings would work at all. It finally had to be repainted.
And YES, it's REALLY EXPENSIVE. So, of course, I already got some. I will be trying it this weekend. I have a beat to crap Explorer to test it on.
Looking forward to your presentation.
Looked up their website a few days ago.
Hope to pull the trigger with the VIP.
If not then will have to wait- my order is ballooning like the deficit.

Duplicolor make a good flex bumper paint. buy a can of adhesion promoter ( by duplicolor) clean, apply adhesion promoter, then paint..I've used it a few times with good results. available at most auto parts stores..just my 2 cents...Ro
