Repair scuff on leather wrapped steering wheel??

I just discovered a pretty nasty scuff on the leather wrapping on my steering wheel. Don't know how it got there, but it's a rough feeling scuff a couple of inches long. I've had that problem on other vehicles that have leather wrapped steering wheels as well...so I'm thinking maybe it's fairly common and you guys have dealt with it before.

Is there a way a smooth the roughness of the scuff? Will the appearance be back to "normal"?

Re: Repair scuff on leather wrapped steering wheel??

Likely caused by a wedding ring. I had the one on my car replaced by the dealer under their dime as one time when I brought it in for an oil change it came back with a jagged skuff. No way it's mine as my ring is smooth. Manger doubted me but the wheel was dirty which my car never is inside, and I said let's go visit the tech. Sure enough his fancy ring which was nice was far from smooth.

My guess is it's caused when lettnig the wheel slide through a weak grip. Check your ring or others who may have driven or parked your car.
