Just another day working at Autogeek v.1966 Mustang - pics/video

Decided to bring in my dad's 1966 Mustang today to play with some products and clean it up a bit. It's been sitting under very cheap car cover the past couple months. I'd like to say that I advised my father NOT to put a cheap cover on it, and NOT to wash it, but he did both anyways. Needless to say, the paint does not look as good as it did when I last detailed it.

There were also either cat scratches or marring from the car cover. Looks like cat scratches to me, but either way, the point is they're there and need to be removed.

I'll also be cleaning up the chrome wheels and bumpers a little bit later today, but I thought I'd post some pics/video of what I've done so far.

    Here are some before pics:

I started by washing the wheels and tires with DP Gel Wheel Cleaner with a B-42 wheel brush and a Cobra tire scrubber pad. I really like the tire scrubber pad as it's much easier to control than a conventional tire brush and provides excellent results.

Notice all the gunk/dirt buildup on the tire.

I decided to wash the rest of the car with ONR. I used our Grit Guard Dual Bucket Wash System. To get in the bumpers, grill, and other crevices, I decided to use a Boar's hair brush. The rest of the car got a Cobra Bone, and dried using Guzzlers naturally.

(I know this brush is meant to have a handle attached, but I decided to just hold it in my hand)

    All clean!

Gonna have to do something about this!

OK, turned on the big fluorescents and got out a Brinkmann to closely inspect the paint / capture the defects I mentioned earlier.

Of course I got out my trusty Flex XC3401 VRG (what else would I use? don't you guys know me by now? ) and decided to give Meguiar's #205 a shot with a Lake Country Hydro-Tech Tangerine pad. My assumptions told me this would be a good one-step to knock out the defects and finish down nicely, and boy were they right!

    Spread with the machine off...

Worked it in thoroughly on speed 6 until I felt all happy inside, then I buffed it off to inspect the results, which speak for themselves...

Left side is untouched, right side buffed with M205.

*EDIT - almost forgot to add this video!

That's all I got for now. I'll update this thread as the day goes on with more pics!

Be honest you did the ONR wash because it too darn cold to play in the water today!
Paint is cleaning up nicely, love the Brinkman light.

BTW, it's getting hot out there! I was freezing this morning, but it warmed up real quick and by 10am I had to take my sweatshirt off.

Not supposed to leave the 40s tomorrow, though...
