    Re: Clay products - 2023

The last time I used a traditional clay bar was when decontaminating my old wheels off the Mustang.

Since then, I have been using clay sponge or clay mitt. I find these way nicer to use and manage compared to the old style clay products.

The clay block is from a local supplier, not unlike the Carpro PolyShave -

The clay mitt is my new favorite though, again from a local supplier. It's doubled sided, clay on one side and microfiber on the other.

For clay lubricant, I'm either using NV Purify (combined lubricant/iron remover) or Meguiar's M34 Final Inspection, I like M34 as it has less residue left behind.

If was buying new clay media right now, I would be looking at the new Rag Company Ultra Clay Scrubber.

I'm going to try a perforated towel this year. I have never used anything but clay bars, but I'm really trying to make the most out of my time and I think using a towel with an iron decon as the lube is the way to go.

Yeah i'm leaning towards TRC clay scrubber actually. I think i will like it better than a towel.

Good price too for 2 blocks in Canada. And blue is my favorite color! haha

I've been thinking about trying iron remover has a clay lube but since using it on my wheels yesterday - no reaction again but my father's wheels turned super purple!...i think i will pass. The smell is just too much for me.

When my iron remover runs out i will be trying labocosmetica sidero. It's concentrated like the one i have now(fireball iron burn extra - which i can't find anymore just the RTU version.) and according to one youtube review i seen from Eddie Colon it doesn't smell horrible - still bad. It also foams which might help with the clay process if you went behind it.

    The mitt is also perforated.
Interesting maybe i will dunk the towel or block in a bucket of rinse less every now and then to release the dirt.

I'm keen on The Rag Company blue clay scrubber block. I like clay blocks more than the mitt and bars.

One thing nice about the towel is you can fold it in 4's....

The TRC clay scrubber block has me interested.
Is it decent for heavyish contamination?
    Or just not very aggressive?

I only watched the TRC video. It's a relatively new product. I like the block.

We picked up a 2019 MDX Advance back in late November.

No threads yet because I haven't had a chance to give it a full "spa day". I will be sure to post one when I do. Up to this point I've only slapped a layer of Wolfgang SiO2 paint sealant on it to protect it over the winter. I didn't think that was very exciting and thread worthy.

The weather is just now starting to be conducive to detailing. I'm going to polish it out and hit it with an application of Gyeon Mohs EVO in the near future.
