    Wheel coating recommendations please!

I'm looking for some feedback on wheel coatings. My Shelby GT 350 gets crazy brake dust, so I'm looking for something that will help with ease of just wiping the brake dust off.

Can I use my Wolfgang high gloss paint sealant? I've used Collinite 845 on other wheels in the past. I still have some.

Black wheels with a gloss finish.

Any of the spray on rinse off coatings/sealants do great on wheels. Or any of the ceramic spray on wipe off products.

With that amount of brake dusting this is where I would recommend you go to coating.

You can use a standard paint or wheel coating. Supposedly wheel coatings do better at high temps.

DLux is a very popular ceramic and what I’ll be putting on my wheels.

Forget that chemical guys product and use what you have. Or invest in a spray and rinse product.

    Please avoid that product.

You can certainly use a wax or sealant, just don't expect it to last very long. The heat from the brakes, along with wheel cleaners, will strip those off in short order.

The quick and easy way to coat wheels is via spray and rinse type ceramic sealants. Think Carpro Hydr02 or Gyeon Wet Coat. The advantage here is you don't need to remove the wheels to get full coverage, just clean the wheels as normal and apply the product. These will coat your brake calipers in the process. Longevity is better than a wax and will better deal with wheel cleaners.

A longer-term solution is to ceramic coat them. This will better resist brake dust, will last longer and have much higher chemical resistance. Carpro DLUX is what I would use, but Gyeon Rim, Diamond Protech Wheel or Gtechniq C5 are good options too. I used NV Wheel on my Mustang. The wheels will need to be removed to coat the barrels, and you would want to decontaminate, clay and perhaps polish the wheels for a good bond.

While you have the wheels off, prep and coat your calipers at the same time.

Trust us….. if your going to put the work in…. Coat them. You won’t regret it. If you drive hard the heat will affect the sealant and waxes….

    Very good information!

I may start out and try the wet coat. So you spray it on and then just wipe it down?

Side note, I have some True Forged Mach 5 wheels on my 03 that are acrylic clear coated. I've always wondered what was safe on those and just used Collinite 845. They really don't get that dirty and I have ceramic brake pads on that car.
