Wash the wheel as usual. While the wheel is still wet, apply 3 to 4 sprays onto the wheel face and barrel, then immediately follow with a stream of water from a hose or pressure washer. The chemical is distributed by the strong flow of water and bonds to the surface.

I used to do spray and rinse on wheels. then It got me thinking about overspray, rubber, interference of tire dressing due to overspray. anybody have similar concerns?

Did it even make a difference? On the wheels
I tried Wolfgang Concourse Metal Sealant on my chrome wheels and noticed zero benefits.

Agree with those recommending a true coating of some sort.
My BMW had tons of break dust from it's performance pads so I tried a spray and rinse product and found it to be pretty ineffective. It would only last a week or so, and it didn't really make wheel maintenance any easier.
When using a coating (I just used left over CQUK I applied to another car) clean up was much easier. Most of the brake dust would blast off with a hose and the rest came off with just a swipe. They also seemed to stay cleaner between washes too. You would get some mild self cleaning driving in the rain.

I've had good luck with McKees37 Hydro Blue = simple --> Clean well --> spray on --> rinse off with PW....
Lasts long enough to protect between monthly washes - so just re-apply every wash.
