Lug nut brush longevity

I find that if you flatten a empty toilet tube so it looks like a half moon, wrap it with a micro towel with a little instant detailer it works better than any brush I have purchased. The towel absorbs the dirt and you can change it every couple of lug nuts once it gets dirty. Throw away the tube after each use and good luck My $0.02

I haven’t used a dedicated lug nut brush for a while now. I just hit it with the tip of my Mothers Wheel Brush.

The red wheel brush? What do you mean by tip? Bristles at corner?

That is sorta what I do...I kinda mash it in there on the edge/corner

Yeah i don’t find these small brushes the best for lug nuts. I use them for smaller cut outs and corners of wheels. The lug nut brush looks interesting.

I may give that TP roll a try. Sounds like it may work.

What I do as well. Seems to work well and reduces a brush and extra step.

I know a lot of folks like to buy/use dedicated products/tools, but I put Lug Nut brushes into the marketing/gimmick category.

Instead of spending 5, 10, 15 bucks for a Lug Nut brush, just buy a bulk pack of 1" foam paint brushes. They'll cost you about 20 cents apiece and do the job just as well or better than any dedicated brush you will buy.

I tried to use the small foam paint brushes and found they weren't stiff enough to get the brake dust out very easily and the ones small enough to get in the tight area around the lug nut/bolt were not long enough to get all the way to the back of the recessed area like I'm able to do with a brush.

None of the ideas here mentioned are bad. There are so many different wheel designs it really all comes down to what is the easiest/most effective method.

How do you get the foam in there between the lugnut and the wheel?
In a pinch sometimes I use long q-tips.

Q tips are what I use as well. The brush seems a lot more effective though.
