Question HELP: Stained Seats After Using Upholstery Cleaner

I attempted to use some Meguiars Upholstery Cleaner on my truck seats and now the seats looked more stained then they originally were. Almost like water stains. They look horrible now. How can I fix this? Please help!! Thanks!!

Just wait untill the cleaner evaporates, could be the cleaner and stain have come to the surface making it look worse.

Some stains won't come out if left for a long period of time.

The stains are there well after I let the cleaner sit and then I used a towel to blot as the instructions stated.

Did you spray directly onto the seats? Seems logical to do so, but it almost always results in oversaturation of the sprayed area. It's best to spray first (at least in my opinion) into a cloth or whatever cleaning media (I hate that word. Did I use it correctly? English majors please chime in) to prevent such discoloration.

I think we've all done this in the past!

Did you end up with the stain still present, then cleaner rings surrounding the old stain where you sprayed your cleaner?

Sometimes with cloth seats you can run into the cleaner soaking into the foam, then re-emerging/wicking after the upholstery dries.

Unfortunately I've seen cloth seats where it didn't go well, but I don't have the answer for how to correct it. Hopefully one of our resident pros will be able to help!

TTQB4U has taken classes on carpet/upholstery cleaning, hopefully he'll see this (or you could try PM'ing him).

Good ole Dawn dish soap is probably best for leather seats. I don't know about cloth seats.

But the thing with upholstery, cleaning products have the ability mess with the color if you don't test your cleaning product for color fastness and compatibility by doing a spot test - this is essentially the contrasting line between a pro and a non pro cleaner/detailer etc.

Mike also pushes the importance of spot testing for this very reason with polishing etc. Many don't take the time to do it.

Did you resolve this issue? Do you have access to an extractor? Use it with just water.

Try spraying the seats with the Meguiar's D106 diluted 20:1 with distilled water and then extracting with distilled water.
