    Chlorine dioxide and ozone gen.

A fellow forum member has had good luck using both methods to rid a vehicle of unwanted odors. Looking for a few additional thought referring to their experience using either option. Chlorine Dioxide and a Ozone generator. Thanks

I would leave it in during treatment so you help your treatment stay inside the car while it works.

Many used car dealers use an ozone generator to get rid of smoke in the headliner and other porous surfaces. They usually leave the generator in overnight or several hours, and then let the car sit with open windows for another day before putting it on the line. It works well.

IMO, ClO2 is far more effective and safer on materials inside a vehicle. Quicker too. Ozone requires the unit to be located outside the vehicle to fully max out it's capabilities and 95% I see in use don't do it correctly.

Both require a full extraction and cleaning to be most effective and in the end both should be run through an HVAC system with no filter. Install the new one once treatments are complete.

Why does it need to be outside. Of all the reviews I’ve read. All have put the machine in the car. And most seem to be very impressed with the results.

Ozone takes O2 and turns it to O3. If it's in the space that fills up with O3 it plateaus and doesn't generate or "push" any more Ozone. It runs out of gas.....literally. Mount the machine outside or route an intake to it, makes no difference. Just so it continues during the process to generate more Ozone. It takes a "shock" or a in layman's terms a LOT of ozone to saturate and penetrate and remove odors. Leaving the machine inside such spaces would result in recycling ozone instead of breathing fresh oxygen.

As part of my "training" or really just personal interest, I signed up and trained in a carpet and rental property seminar series here locally. I own several rentals thus my equipment serves dual purposes. This was one of the basics. The proper technique is to use a hose assembly to push ozone into a window or door of the small space for optimal results and long term performance of the ozone generator.

Here's my old set up 'rigged' to work in the correction fashion.

Looks great above. Since it only works when the machine is outside. Which unit or model comes with the must have duct work. Otherwise it’s a useless unit.
