The Gyeon Q2M Iron Wheel Cleaner is a powerful formula developed to remove Grime, Dirt, and Brake Dust. The added "Iron" will remove ferrous deposits without losing the wheel cleaner character of the product.

    SAFE
A powerful cleaner, yet safe on all types of rims and finishes, coated or not. Its formula makes and ideal solution to clean and maintain wheels without any risk of damaging their finish.

Meguiar's offers the D1801 Wheel & Paint Iron Decon and its pH balanced formula is safe on any type of wheel or paint.

If it's safe for a clear coated wheels, it should be safe for paint. The formula might be stronger for wheels so I would cut it (1/20) for paint. Play chemist or just get a iron remover that's made for paint.

I think what I heard them explaining for the difference is that the wheels product is meant to clean the wheels, like a soap, and it also contains some iron removers in the formula. The Gyeon Iron product is solely to remove iron and does not contain cleaning agents, so it's meant to be used on a chemical decontamination step, performed on a clean surface. You don't want to use Iron often (would be wasting it) but you can use the wheel cleaner often. I'd probably save that for the wheels and use a soap meant for paint on the rest of the car but I think it would be safe to use the wheels product on paint as it's safe for clear coated wheels.

FWIW I use 3D BDX as my iron treatment on paint and have never had any issues. BDX is intended as a brake dust cleaner but can be used on paint.

I'd try it on a small spot out of sight somewhere to test.
