Great work Jacob!
The before pictures look like that paint really is compromised to the point of no return. The after pics are amazing!
That said, I hope you explained to the customer that the long-term prognosis for the finish you achieved is not a given. Once the paint has deteriorated to the point that the before shots indicate, the durability of the finish has already been severely compromised and will require much more frequent maintenance than the norm to preserve the finish.
It would be interesting to see what this looks like in 4-6 weeks.

Thanks! I truthfully did not know how long the finish would hold up after the procedure. He asked me, and I told him I didn't know how long it would hold up but to please let me know
.
I felt like I cut the paint pretty hard, or at least as hard as I felt comfortable without a paint thickness gauge. I told him that if he was not satisfied with the results, that he'd have to wait until I had a paint thickness gauge to measure the paint and see if I could compound and polish anymore.
I told him he would really have to take care of it moving forward, and gave him the rest of a bottle of Optimum Car Wax and two Cobra Sky Blue edgeless polishing cloths, as well as cautioned him about the use of an automatic car wash, and did my best to share some good car wash discipline.
I told him he'd need to hand wash his vehicle or have it professionally washed either every week or every other week, amd told him to apply the Optimum Car wax often, as it would give the paint some UV protection.
I also remember telling him that I could only do the process once and that I couldn't guarantee the results hoping this would reiterate the fact that he needed to carefully care for his paint.
The photos look pretty good, but by my eye I wish I could have made it perfect for him.
I just hope he is happy. He paitently sat there with me while I worked on his car without complaint.
You made some good points here I'll come back to reference when I run into more paint like this again.
Thanks brother! I hope it holds up for a while for him.

INCREDIBLE RESTORATION!
Most people would think the paint on the car was past the point of no return. But you save it. Good job.
And as you've come to learn, there's a reason why I nicknamed the FLEX XC 3401 VRG the
BEAST!
Michael and Marquez are both stellar customer care reps here at Autogeek as are all the rest of the customer care reps.
I'll send them the link to this thread.
Thanks Mike!
I was definitely happy I could get The BEAST back into action!
I'm sure they'll really appreciate this thread.
I showed the photos my customer sent me to a few different people, and they didn't think it could be fixed either.
The reason I had the confidence to give it a try is because of this thread.
