You are so right. Coatings are not super easy to apply, even if you are experienced. In my experience, and talking with guys that do this every day even if you are using a "super consumer friendly ceramic coating" whether it be something like CanCoat or out of a 30 ml bottle, high spots are going to happen even if you "take your time and do it right." (a little throwback to my roller skating days )

I've also heard that Meguiar's has been limited in what chemistry they can use in the US because of the health risks of most coatings. They want to avoid the liability. I would not be surprised if that is coming from the parent company 3M.

Especially if you read the disclaimer above. That gives them a lot of cover for the professional coating. "Not for consumer use"

When you hear about the health risks and then you see video after video of people applying coatings without gloves or respirators or any PPE of any kind it really makes you wonder.
Interesting you point that out because I did notice that hybrid paint coating does not smell dangerous at all. Some other products nearly knocked me out when I caught a whiff! From what I’ve seen of the product, I see it as one of those small glass vials that has been put into a spray can. Definitely outperforms others in the same category, CanCoat etc and it’s definitely way easier to apply. Interested to see how this 3M coating applies but I can’t probably get my hands on it since it’s certified installer only.

Yep this is definitely true! I saw a video on YouTube where it was said you can apply hybrid paint coating and still wipe off an hour later. Definite trade off since it takes about 7 days to fully cure but it has been great to not deal with high spots.

I would love to try the HPC but I wish they provided it as a standalone in the detail line by the gallon or without the prep priced around $20 cheaper. I have a lot of prep so that is not needed.

    I see this often.

Most ceramic coatings take weeks to fully cure. It can be accelerated with the use of IR lamps or parking in direct sunlight.

Meguiar's HPC advertises some TrueCure technology. What exactly that means I don't know but it seems to me they are saying their product will cure faster than typical ceramic coatings.

Meguiar's recommends the car doesn't get wet for 24 hours and do not wash it for 7 days. How long the coating takes to cure is unknown. I wouldn't necessarily think 24 hours or 7 days but clearly no less than 7 days (could be 7, 12, 24, etc).
