Has anyone used the new 'restorative' MF detergents?

I think this year Carpro MFX and P&S Rags to Riches are the new detergents. Both supposedly bring back the lost absorption from your MFs...

Has anyone used them and found the above to be true? I have some that just repel water and if these detergents truly work.... Well that's money saved for sure!

I haven't used either of those two, but I did recently try the Griot product recently. It was the first time I'd used anything like it.

I noticed my drying towels which weren't drying as well do work much better now. The Griots product is also advertised as a pad cleaner and it works great in that capacity. In the past, I used to soak my polishing pads in a diluted APC solution. It never seemed to work very well and I had to really work to get my pads clean. After soaking the pads in the Griots solution everything rinsed right out and the pads are the cleanest they've ever been.

If either of the two products you mention work as well as the Griots, you should be happy.

I have used both of these. I have stuck with R2R as my microfiber detergent going forward. It has brought back some life to towels. CarPro MFX did a good job but it is more comparable to Micro Restore or any of the others.

Re: Has anyone used the new 'restorative' MF detergents?

I'm curious what this chemical is that's able to break down these durable topper products. I wonder if it attacks some bond directly in a way a degreaser cannot.

I used to be more careful about not using durable sealants as drying aids but I've gotten a little lazy/had the desire to experiment. So far my pfms have been fine but I'm paying attention.

I don’t what hocus pocus is in it but i got a gallon of towel kleen, mckee’s and 1.5 gallon of griots. Once done R2R is all i’ll be using.

I’ve been mainly using Griots for past 2 years and have no problem with my PFM’s sucking up water.

Only use Ech20 merlins mix or Ammo Hydrate as drying aids tho.

Have you tried the R2R? If so, why do you prefer that over the others?

Does anyone try boiling them anymore? That used to be a thing to restore them. I had never tried it. I soak mine in my leftover car wash bucket solution and wring out and into the machine after that. I'm happy with how mine have held up.

Now i’ve never soaked my towels overnight before so maybe that was the trick but I have 2 CapPro 2 face towels i’ve used for second buff towels on coatings.

They’ve always wash clean and still use thrn on paint. These we’re completely hydrophobic and had been washed many times. The R2R brought them back.

Here’s a link to the thread about it
