Weird staining and streaks when paint correcting
Hey guys,
doing a customers car, and it has around 80k km sits outside and the paint is black.
I washed the car down with clean slate and carpro reset, along with ironX and clay bar.
however on the hood, roof, trunk I am getting this weird blotching after I use my CarPro Eraser and it leaves this weird streak like scratches... I confirmed its not scratches since I can wipe the other way and the lines vanish.
however... this car looks really rough in terms of how it was washed before with all these swirls, I have been trying multiple pads like Griots orange and Westlake Oranges on my 5” DA griots, I am having no luck whatsoever... I tried Sonax Cutmax, Meguirs M105 and Sonax EC 04-06 for the polish.
I dunno why the top parts of the car is leaving this weird residue... and notice that it has this oil slick look when drying after I do a wipedown.
any ideas?

Sounds like oxidation. Do a test spot, but do more passes and be sure to work clean.
If you don't have a paint gauge..I would get a release of liability from the owner. Car has 80k and not maintained you don't want a burn through.

It was really rough to begin with. Might be a job of managing expectations. There does seem to be some slight holograming in one of the shots.

Was the clay bar the last process that you did? Clay bar can leave marring behind. Try a light polish afterwards.
I believe in treating everybody with respect, and clean cars. That’s what I believe in.
