Help Correcting 14 Navigator in Tuxedo Black

Was thinking about correcting my wife’s Lincoln Navigator this week. The big beast is Tuxedo black. It’s not in too bad a shape considering it was neglected for months after my heart attack last year. It has some straight line marring and some damage seen in a photo below.

I will be using a PC 742* with 5.5” LC flat pads (just about all the kinds) or optimum mf compound pads. I have Wolf’s medium cut, Mezerna SF 4000, OPT Hyper Polish, and Meg’s mf compound.

I figured to start the test spot with the least aggressive (Mezerna with light polish pad) but thought I’d throw it out there to folks who may have worked this paint before.

*I’ll use the PC unless I order that G9 I’ve been recommended.

Or would the Hyper polish be the finest? Also, I’ve heard it doesn’t last long and I’ve had it for 2-3 years or more.

I would suggest you do a test spot with medium polish on a light cutting pad to start. Step up or step down on the aggression when appropriate after that. Let the paint tell you what it needs. The paint system can be different within the same model run so its very hard to say one approach would work across the board.

Finally went after it today. Really didn’t see much difference on the door panels with any of the products; they all took out the minimal marring. The B pillars were a different story. I had to go to opt microfiber cutting pads with Meg’s mf compound to get them smooth.
