    I want to try a new compound/polish/wax?

I've been using Meguiars Ultimate Compound, Polish and Wax on the cars around here for a few years+ now and have been decently happy with it. The past two years, I've been using a GG9 with 6" Buff and Shine Euro Foam pads (orange and white.) I'm getting low on stuff compound/polish so wanted to perhaps try something different this year, and see if I can get our cars to shine even more! I've been fairly happy with the Meguiars Ultimate stuff, but always find the same scratches come back after time (Megs stuff seems more like fillers then fixes.)

The main vehicle I've been doing is my own 2014 Chrysler 300 with black pearl tricoat paint (PXT Phantom Black.) I have to use all three products every fall. I want to start doing it 2x a year. I imagine doing this I can hopefully cut out the compound part after an initial correction then. It's no show queen but is in decent shape for its age and compared to the heavy swirl condition when I got it a few years ago (old owner never saw a wash other then swirlomatic car washes!) There was a poor paint fix done by the previous owner as well (I actually made another thread on it.) :/ I know this color is hard to get to really pop as well being a metallic flake...

I want to maybe try Sonax CutMax with my foam pads, but not sure what I should try for polish (maybe EX 04-06?) before I put the Ultimate Wax on it this year, or if I should try a new wax too (I still have tons of the wax at least...)

Lets hear the suggestions please. I am on a budget but the Sonax stuff seems decently priced...

I can't attach a picture of the car.

Can’t go wrong with Sonax polishes. I have used Cut and Finish, Ex 04/06, and NP 03-06 with excellent results.

Sonax makes a good compound and polish. You should not need to use a compound that often. No sense in removing too much clear but rather preserve it.

Ouch I just realized that Sonax smaller bottles are only 250mL. Thats almost half the size of the Megs stuff (454mL) at 1.8x+ the price

    It's also 10x the product.

Sonax and Menzerna products are hard to beat.

You won't deal with Meguiars compounds once you try those out

Icarus: Download the TapTalk app on your phone. Pics are easy-peasy to post.

And while I know Sonax makes excellent products, the Griot's Creams are nothing to sneeze at either. There is a member here that corrects extremely high-end super cars with the Griot's Creams, and the paint is always perfect.
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.

Good to know the Sonax stuff is so well thought of at least, I didn't realize the containers were so small :/

Re: I want to try a new compound/polish/wax?

I'm going to order some Cutmax and 04-06 when I order new drying clothes that I need.

Does the Sonax stuff work well with foam pads (I'm using B&S Euro Foam pads)?

Wonder if I should order some PNS to go with it too, hmm...

So very true. I started out with the Meguiars Ultimate Compound and Polish. They were great to learn on, but after trying other products I quickly realized there are many quality products which do a much better job.

The 250mL bottles are not a bad thing. Even when polishing a car every 6~12 months, a 16oz bottle can last a really long time. Using a 250mL/8oz bottle allows you to use it up faster so you can try other products to find one you really like. If you do want to try several at once the smaller bottles allow you to do that and save space.

I think polishing one's car every 6-12 months is rather excessive. Perhaps the washing technique should be revisited.
Treat it like it's the only one in the world.
