I am visiting my parents and doing some things around the house for them. They bought a floor model laundry dryer 3 years ago. Over the last year, the dryer door has discolored where there used to be a sticker when it was in the showroom.
I tried some Meguiars Cleaner Wax (probably 20 years old - that's what my dad had in the garage) to no effect. Any thoughts on how to remove the yellowing? If possible, I would prefer to get something OTC.
Here's what I think... It's a stain from the sticker adhesive and it's deep into the finish. The adhesive discolors the finish. Unfortunately nothing that can really be done.
I've seen this situation many, many times during my painting career.
My dad had a collection of waxes (some I am thinking were 40 years old) and none of them made the slightest impact when doing test spots (different areas each time). I also was able to try some Meguiars Ultimate Compound as Mike suggested - no impact.
I think 2black1s is correct that the damage is deep into the finish. There is no noticeable difference on the surface between the discolored and non-discolored sections.
