Yeah Weather Tech set the bar on all weather matts. They even have the better name! Hope the Husky’s can keep up.

Yep. And they (and similar brands even) are so good that I never go back to the originals, any season. The OEMs stay mint in my garage for when I sell the car.

    Same here.

As an aside, one thing I have noticed is that the actual carpeting (as well as the OEM carpeted mats) are getting thinner, cheaper and cheaper looking. My recently sold 2006 Outback had way thicker/more substantial mats and carpeting throughout than my 2017 Allroad and my 2021 Crosstrek and CX-5.

It is probably a combination of cost cutting and weight savings. When they are fighting hard to meet fuel economy standards every once counts. Some engineer probably figured out they could save several pounds on each car by going with a thinner carpet and less padding.

Yep, I'm sure. But it's also a way for them to save money on something that very, very few people will notice and even fewer will mind.

Re: Question for you guys who live in a blizzard..

I've used lots of Husky and WeatherTechs and a few OEM slush mats. Husky seems to cover the most floor area and the dead pedal area etc then other on the ones I've tried, and have the best lip to hold the most junk. WTs are similar but don't always have the highest lips/hold as much...

Yeah... It was 12 here this morning driving to work. Cold like that really gets your attention when you walk outside!

As it gets closer to/below zero it hits that point I refer to as "Expletive Cold", where if you're out in it for more than a brief little bit, you involuntarily start uttering expletives...

To the original post topic - I'm in the camp that runs the "all season" mats all year long. By the time it's not winter here, then it's road construction/parking lot repair season so inevitably you end up tracking in asphalt in from somewhere.

I just run the factory catalog rubber mats; I'm sure other options are great buy I like never having my floormats move/squirm from their anchors. If we end up having really snowy periods I might go as far as tucking a folded towel half under/around the perimeter (it's less obnoxious than it sounds) to help sop up any extra snow melt from what gets tracked into the car.

Last winter opinion - if it's gonna be cold, I'd much rather have it be snowy so there's at least a payoff for it. Sure, it means my 45 minute commute can turn into 2 hours, but then I get to (quattro) play in the snow when the roads are empty...
