That’s the description right here on Autogeek.^

Notice the words “Polishing made simple” and “do it yourself enthusiast”

I think this polisher bundle totally makes sense for its intended target audience and that includes people who would come here to find it... Just think for a second about the wife who wants to buy her husband a gift? If he loves his car but has never had a polisher and doesn’t know the difference between a swirl and a squirrel, then this could very well be the perfect gift for him.

Also keep in mind that same wife knows absolutely nothing about pads, products, nor is really looking to take on a purchase that could quikly amount to $250-$300 dollars or even more.

This polishing bundle is a total of $120 dollars and comes with everything except towels and a claybar. But for $120 dollars who’s complaining?? The next comparable bundle comes in at $199 dollars sale price [$249 reg. price] and it only goes up from there. And those bundles don’t include a lsp.

This bundle makes sense for the intended buyer at $120 bucks.
Btw it has 11 ratings and they’re all 5 Stars. Apparently the people who bought it are happy.

-Correction: It Does include microfiber towels. What more does Average Joe want for $120 bucks??
If you want to be deceptive, go ahead and ignore the fact that it's listed as the "Wax Attack 2 POWER PRO" and then pretend that labelling something PRO doesn't imply that it's claiming to be a prosumer tool.

For $120, I would like a tool that will do something more than spread wax.

Do me a favor and find a video of anyone actually correcting paint with this thing...I did some searches and gave up after scrolling down for pages and pages. None of the videos (other than Mike's, where he conveniently does not show any defect correction, just product application and removal) show anyone applying anything other than a cleaner wax with this thing -- to cars that look beautifully glossy already! It's about as useful as one of those Black and Decker "polishers" that sells for 35 bucks. It's gonna take you FOREVER to get results with it, if you can get any at all. And with no easy way to mark the backing plate, you won't see if the pad is spinning or not. In short, if you want to correct paint, this tool would be a great way to spend $120 learning what not to buy.

To the OP: Return the tool. Buy one of the Griot's kits here at Autogeek (it comes with pads and towels, going for $179 right now), and then buy some of the new turtle wax one-and-done polish and hybrid ceramic sealant. It's going to cost you about a hundred more than the Mother's kit but it's gonna deliver results quicker (but just as safe). You will not regret it.

How's about I link you to any one of a kazillion products on Amazon that have 11 5-star reviews from verified purchasers and you tell me how confident you feel about buying it.

I'll also note that not one of those 5-star reviews mentioned this thing doing more than very minor paint improvement. And none of them said how long it took.

But hey, it's your money, so why don't YOU spend it and then come back and tell me how great it works. You know what I find when I look up "paint correction with <tool name>" for any one of the following:

    Porter Cable DA
    Harbor Freight DA
    Griot's DA
    Maxshine DA
    Adams Swirlkiller
    Bauer DA

I get videos within the top 10 listings that immediately show me how to use it as well as before/after results. You know what I get when I search that for the Wax Attack 2? Videos showing a completely different wax attack tool (that looks surprisingly like most DA polishers listed above) by Mothers Australian division.

Mike always says "Use the right tool..." this is simply not the right tool for anyone who seriously wants to correct paint defects or polish out swirls in their car.

I think you’re misunderstanding the definition of the word pro... It’s not as simple as you make it out to be. In this case, all it means is that they’re providing the beginner/enthusiast with a bundle pack that includes the tool and products to achieve quality results that will satisfy this target audience.

Keep in mind that it’s a bargain at $120 dollars. Also keep in mind that not everyone out there is as into detailing as you may be, so for the average Joe the results he’ll achieve from this basic setup might very well be more than enough to satisfy his/her needs.

As far as finding a video of anyone doing some serious corruption with this tool? You just said this tool supposedly can’t possibly compare to a “real” polisher, so why would you waste your time even searching?

Once again, That’s not the target audience.

You’d be better off taking the time and actually trying it for yourself instead of making all of these assumptions about how bad it is.

Real “Pros” wouldn’t take this as seriously as you’re taking this... Relax.

Yep. And not even Mother's is claiming it does more than that.

I couldn’t agree more. I would’ve loved something like this back in 2006, when I tried my hand at “waxing” my car in depth for the 1st time. [claybar, paint cleaner, compound, polish, wax, all done by hand] It’s not like I knew the difference between a swirl and a squirrel. I was just happy my car was shiny after all that work.

Also, I think something like this would be a great gift for parents to give their son with his 1st car. I’ve got a 20yr. old nephew who just bought a Ford Mustang that he’s proud of, and if not for the fact that I can detail it for him, something like this inexpensive polisher would be a pretty cool gift considering I can never think of anything good to give him.

So in this case, all the word "pro" means is not that it's short for "professional" but instead that it means something completely different?
I'm upset that a bunch of armchair internet detailers are coming in to tell this guy that he should keep a tool he spent $120 on that is not going to do what he wants it to do. If it was any good at it, there would be somebody who made a video of it....but I can't find it. You just keep repeating the same thing, that the tool is probably fine.

The OP called a $120 expenditure a "splurge" which means he doesn't have much money.

He wants to do his vehicles as well as friends and neighbors.

Why would you keep insisting that this is a good tool for him or anyone who has the desire to correct paint, especially if you have not used it?

Yet you’re trying to spend his money.... Are you going to cover the extra $80-$150+ dollars that it’s going to cost him?

It’s a simple, stupid-proof system that can’t damage your paint.

No, it’s not a Flex or Rupes. But, if you want to make your car look better a couple times a year without worrying about creating more severe problems, it’s a great tool. If you’re asking about other compounds, polishes and pads, you’re probably not the targeted user for the tool.

Not everyone wants to, or is able to, spend $500+ for a machine, a dozen different pads, and 5 or 6 different bottles of products. Additional pads are available, and they’re inexpensive.

The Wax Attack 2 was never marketed as a prosumer machine. It fills a niche for the occasional user who wants to detail his car without breaking the bank. Don’t poo-poo it if you haven’t tried it or don’t fit the demographic.
    Hi Forrest,

Thanks for your comments. I think the Wax Attack 2 is a great machine and could possibly be for me, if I wasn't a geek with a lot of time on my hands.

You are right, for the normal consumer, someone who wants to take better than average care of their vehicles, the WA2 would be the weapon of choice. It will provide all the essential tools that a normal car guy needs to bring their car's finish beyond what they could expect in a normal average hand wax/polish. Even when using Clay.

But, for someone like me, who wants to explore beyond what comes with the kit, it probably wasn't a good choice.

    Thanks

I don't think buying it is foolish.

Learn a little on the Wax Attack, and then if you think you need it, step up to a PC or G9.

If the OP is like the rest of us, he'll have 2-3 machines in no time anyway.
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.
