    Jeep Hard Top Coating?

    Hey all,

Just got a new addition to the family, Jeep Wrangler 4-Door JL Willy's addition.

Searched, and couldn't find any recommendations for coating the hard top (I owned a 92 wrangler, and boy do you have to keep up with all the plastic and the hard top, if you don't want to drive around in an ugly, greyed out vehicle).

I've got Dlux on the way, wondering whether it's worth using it on the hard top as well.

    Thoughts?

    TIA...Eric

Dlux is what I would use. I think you're on the right track.

Just to throw this out there,

I wonder how well the SONAX Polymer Net Shield would work on the Jeep Hardtops?

If I remember correctly, the hard tops have some kind of funky flat painted surface? Anyone have a "good" picture?

If that's correct, nothing wrong with the CarPro DLux

CQuartz DLux Plastic & Wheel Coating

But this might work and if it did - it would be a lot easier and faster to apply. I just thought of using the PNS for POWDER coat paint last weekend and initial application and results were as good as expected. In a couple of weeks I'm going fishing on this boat so I'll get a chance to see how it's holding and also how the trailer, (as well as the rest of the boat), beads water when we pull-out of the lake.

    Check out this possible product....

    Mike...

I'll try to get a picture after the rain stops here in the NE.

I know what you mean about that "funky flat painted surface". The 92 Wrangler had that, and when it got scratched up, I couldn't find any paint that would cover up the white that showed up underneath (even a matte Testor's enamel was too glossy). Long story short, don't go 4-wheeling near any low hanging tree limbs.

Not sure about this one, but the surface does feel close to the trim on the bumpers (and it seems like about 50% of the entire car, actually ).

Yup...tried to get a photo by drying a portion, but the rain just wouldn't cooperate. The last one is a good representation (although the others look quite nice, I must say).

Thank you! Rubi looked pretty good at least on the exterior when I was finished. One of my in laws needed it looking nice for the prom. All of the plastics and textured, (possibly powder coated?) bumpers were an up hill battle. This Jeep was also the very first vehicle I did a tire coating on.

Let me call Jeep and see if they have a recommended product for these hard tops as well.

First - Thank you Jacob for the great pictures showing the funky finish on Jeep Tops.

Here's the full size of the last picture,

To the OP - Keep up updated on this project. This topic - that is

What to use on a Jeep top?

Comes up often enough that some solid products people can trust for this finish would be great moving into the future.

I did a 2020 Rubicon 2 months ago. I use SB3 coatings. I used the 5 year Alpha on it. It looked good when i was done, and the owner says It beads like the rest of the Jeep. So, my guess is that most other coatings will work fine
