Clean panels well?
Coat it. It will clean so much better. Top it with what ever you want.... it’s your car. I top my Cquartz all the time and dont feel the performance gets masked by toppers.
I do feel (maybe in my mind). Different toppers make it look better.

Ehh I feel as if they water spot easier than sealants.
But maybe I'll think about it some spring. What coatings are the easiest to use now?

Non are that difficult to use. Simply apply in a small section wait till rainbows (easy enough to see) and buff off. Just need to make sure you buff all off to avoid high spots. Not harder than a sealant just more time consuming.
I’ve always heard that the PBMG coatings are mostly easy to apply (PBL diamond coatings), Kamikaze are pretty easy also (ISM 1.0, Miyabi).
Coating lites are not easier to apply but are easier to not mess up. Usually just apply and remove no waiting. I feel with doing the work id rather have something longer lasting but i do apply Cancoat as a topper.
Maybe start with Cancoat or Cquartz Lite?

To also be 100% honest i dont know if topping works. Again I dont feel my coating gets masked and works the same. If thats the case maybe nothing is being left behind.
Also with looks maybe the cleaning and then applying topper is in essence just buffing the coating as i remove the topper to make shinier..... again .
I just like the way my car looks and feel water properties are better. Is it the chemicals left behind or the mechanical action of applying sealant (lubricant) and buffing off that makes it behave and look nicer..... no idea

Clean panels well?
I've done coatings a few times and they just didn't seem to work well. Plus they seem to water spot worse. Granted I used M37 sealant maybe that was the problem?
I may give it another go here some spring. My other issue is when I wash I need to throw something on after a wash..I know toppers work etc but it always have me wondering if something is under that topper ( the ceramic coating ) or is it just the topper beading up... My mind is wired weird lol

You stated you had ceramic, if you have ceramic you don't need a topper, clay, or decon. The ceramic is taking care of protecting your paint, you depending on the ceramic you had applied find the ceramic booster they suggest with that product to extent the life.
