    Film/residue on interior windshield

    Hi all,

I like to think of myself as somewhat experienced with detailing, but ive run into an issue im not sure how to deal with. Recently i bought a 2019 accord. I was giving the glass a good cleaning, and realized there is some form of residue on the windshield. Scrubbing really agressively with a waffle weave glass towel and some stoners invisible glass will start to remove it, but its going to be a LOT of effort for the windshield. The film isnt obstructing visibility, but now that i know its there i have to deal with it It almost looks like it caught some of the lint from my microfibers.

Any suggestions for how to more easily clean it would be appreciated. (also if anyone has a tip on keeping microfiber lint off glass..)

I have similar issues with my Accord's glass. I think I'm going to have to resort to Griot's Fine Glass Polish.
Treat it like it's the only one in the world.

Bill is on the right track.

Some films are best removed mechanically, not via a "liquid" i.e. a glass cleaner.

    Example,

Next up - glass polishing- both the inside and outside of the glass.

Do this BEFORE cleaning seats and door panels.

    Then re-clean using a spray-on glass cleaner.

Polish the outside by hand or machine first - then the inside of the windshield by hand.

    Now that’s clean!

Here's another write-up on this topic. I think I explain in-depth the issue and the "why" in this write-up.

    Miss that truck...

Remove the glare from where you stare

Here's a shot looking out the driver's side of my truck's windshield...

    Griot's Fine Glass Polish

    Soft foam applicator pad...

    Now that's a clear view!

    Summary...

So if you find yourself struggling to really get the inside glass on your car clean... it might be time to take a new approach and hand polish the glass with a dedicated glass polish.

Our Honda also gets those little "sparklies" on the glass. I too thought it was lint at first. Not sure what it really is but a light polishing is what gets rid of them.

I've tried a bunch of "window towels". The best ones I've found are the Griot's PFM window towels.

The Wolfgang is good stuff too, it's what I use. One tip : put something like a towel down to protect the dash when you're polishing the glass. Even very light abrasives will scratch/scuff the interior materials used in cars these days.

Two that work great that are not sold here are McKee's 37 20/20 and Adams Brilliant Glaze. Both are non-abrasive options.

    Ha ha...

Ask Nick where he got the idea for a glass polish to use INSIDE the car?

Me? So often I am the OS or Original Source for so many things in the car and even boat detailing world.
