Question Possibility of beginning of clearcoat failure

    Hi all

I live in Europe and currently own a 2014 model year Peugeot 208, finished in Shark Grey Metallic.
Recently, I have been having whitish, faded out areas solely on my car hood. I am thinking it's a sign of the beginning of clear coat failure. Unfortunately, I live in a very sunny country and the car is very often parked outside, which exposes its paint job to direct sunlight.

Can any of you guys shed some light on what exactly I am experiencing, and if I can possibly save the paint job and improve its look?

    Many thanks guys!

I also live in a sunny environment (Central Florida) and agree that does look like the beginnings of clearcoat failure. In my location it usually begins on the front of the roof, then the front of the hood.
Is it possible that your car was polished to cause the clearcoat to be very thin in those areas?

I believe that may be the case. I polish the car using Autoglym Super Resin Polish by hand, which is supposedly not an Abrasive, but polishing it last week to try to remedy the issue made it seem kind of worse unfortunately.

Did you see any pigment as in the color of the bascoat coming off the area you polishes and onto your applicator pad?

Hi Mike, no, never seen any colour come off, neither when applying, nor when buffing
