    The Beast Arrived!!!

Damn...it’s massive, has weight and a feel of quality!!

Ran the flex—power! And speed too! Had no idea the beast was fast and a screamer!!

Already can see the scratches and swirls jumping off car before turning on this monster!!

    Happy, happy camper right now!

    Tom.

Hope you like it Tom - it's kind of a BEAST!

But it will enable you to literally plow through a car detail.

    Also 2 things,

1: Be sure to lubricate the felt ring before use and every once in a while.

Lubricating the Felt Ring on the Flex 3401

2: Traditionally I've been a fan and user of the Lake Country 6.5" Hybrid Force foam pads for this tool. Right now I'm REALLY LIKING the shape and size of the new RUPES 180mm or in American talk, the 7" RUPES foam pads.

Overview: RUPES NEW D-A Series Compounds and Foam Pads

    Pad Specs and pictures

The new RUPES DA Foam Pads come in 3 different sizes (currently), and three different levels of aggressiveness or non-aggressiveness.

Metric and U.S. Standard Pad Diameters

Back in the 1975, President Gerald Ford and his Administration tried to get the U.S. to switch to the metric system but alas the effort failed. So while most of the world uses the metric system for measurement back here in the good old USA we're still using inches.

    180mm diameter = 7" or for the OCD 7.09" in U.S. Standard

    150mm diameter = 6" or for the OCD 5.9" in U.S. Standard

    100mm diameter = 4" or the the OCD 3.94" in U.S. Standard

I'd recommend getting a few of the Lake Country 6.5" Orange and White pads for heavy cutting and also some of all 3 of the new RUPES foam pads and see which ones you like best.

Then dump your money into the pads you like best.

    Re: The Beast Arrived!!!

And not that it matters but....

The word beast is always spelled in all capital letters.

So it's the BEAST not the Beast.

As a writer, I pay attention to branding.

    FLEX is all capital letters.
    RUPES is all capital letters.
    SONAX is all capital letters.
    GYEON is all capital letters.

When I coined the name the BEAST for the 3401 - I write it and type it in all capital letters and that's how FLEX types it in their catalog.

Companies invest a lot of time, energy and even legal resources into proper branding of their names and logos. It's a habit for me to pay attention and then as a professional courtesy to the brands Autogeek represents, spell, say and type the work accordingly.

    Just throwing that out there...

    Thanks Mike...

All capital letters?? Didn't know or noticed that! Thanks for pointing that out.

Just bought bunch of 6.5 LC Hybrid force pads for the CFinisher and the BEAST.

I have a ton of the original Rupes pads to use as well.

You know what the funny thing is...

The first time I tried a polisher was the BEAST in your class! I just don't remember it being that heavy nor powerful!

Love the Rupes---it just got to the point it was just stalling toooooo much and was wasting a ton of time doing sections over and over again. I was done!

    Re: The Beast Arrived!!!

Tom, congrats on THE BEAST. I have two of them, and love them both.

Curious though, is there a reason you went with the BEAST and not the newer Supa BEAST? (is that what Mike calls it?)

    JustJesus----

Sure, Supa BEAST can wait but not the BEAST. Flex plans to discontinue the beast and I wanted in my hands before that happens!

Plans are to get one more BEAST, then the Supa Beast. Humm heck---maybe get a third BEAST instead!

It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.
