Quickest application and longevity of protection

I haven't posted in a while so I'm a little out of touch with the detailing world at the moment. Im trying to get back into it since I just bought a new truck.

Im looking for something that has some decent durability without spending a good chunk of time applying like I would a traditional sealant/wax - especially since its a full size pickup. I found a bottle of Mckees37 10 minute Paint Sealant. Has anyone tried it? Ive read some good reviews on their site but no real mention of it here.

What else would y'all recommend? Thanks in advance!

Closest thing to that 10 Minute Paint Sealant that is sold on AG is this :

Wolfgang Deep Gloss Liquid Seal, paint sealant

Alternately, you might look in to one of the spray & rinse sealants ... even easier to apply but likely less longevity.

SONAX Spray + Seal, spray sealant, spray-on rinse-off

BLACKFIRE HydroSeal, paint coating, spray-on coating, sio2 spray

Optimum Spray wax. Spray, wipe and done. 6 month protection. Easy peachy...

Duragloss Aqua spray wax is nice one.

    Meguiar's spray wax is one...

There's a bunch of spray waxes out there with good durability.

    Tom,

I ended up ordering optiseal and OCW! Turns out I had $50 credit on autopia so i basically got it for free. Question though... have you used optiseal on matte/satin wheels by chance?

I use the Optimum Car Wax. Have not experienced the Opti Seal.

Did a bit search and found this: Matte wheels - Optimum Products Discussion - Optimum Forum

You can use Optiseal on everything except for Interior glass. And it is one of the quickest and longest lasting protections you can get. Plus the chemistry supports the actual protection level behind it.

Re: Quickest application and longevity of protection

I’ve used 10 Min. Paint Sealant. It’s quick to apply and can be used as a drying aid after your initial coat is on (at least that’s my recommended order).

It beads very impressive for the first few weeks and then diminishes significantly for me. Hence why I would continue to use as a one-spray-per-panel drying aid. It may last much longer than a few weeks but I never let it go longer than that because I want the top beading performance.

I haven’t used it much lately because it’s been surpassed by other products in my collection, but it’s still good for what it is: quick applying, decent beading up front, tons of applications per bottle. But in my opinion WG CSC is the same thing but better and high performance remains much longer, for me.

Re: Quickest application and longevity of protection

You gotta remember that protection and beading are two different things. I can add a beading agent to water and it can make your paint bead like crazy. Won't protect it against much though. Best way to test protection vs beading is after the beading is gone, hose the area dry it. Then take something brightly coloured like strawberry juice and let it sit on the paint. If you need clay or polish it off after a day, then the protection is gone. If you can just get some water and rinse and wipe it off, protection is still there. I say strawberry juice because it has very weak acids in it, but really any commercial fruit juice will do.

Re: Quickest application and longevity of protection

I can generally tell if protection exists (particularly if any good amount of protection exists) from touching the paint. How good the protection I can only tell by what’s going on when the car gets really dirty.

I will say that the only etching I’ve ever noticed was from a certain ceramic wax (on a hood that has a lot of etching from a previous owner), and from Cancoat. At least where I live, LSPs with that boast polymers (sealants, Hybrid waxes, ceramic spray sealants) seem to prevent etching and leave the car relatively defect free (barely a need to clay after a year and barely any dirt being on a pad after polishing).

But I do often correlate beading as an indicator of just how much protection remains. Even if that gives me false indication, the self-cleaning effects are important to me. But I notice many sealants lose a decent percentage of water behavior performance in the first month but then hang tight for another 4-5 months before feeling like it has lost most protection.
