Re: Quickest application and longevity of protection

Ya the hydrophobic factor is an indicator of the beading agent. There's some LSPs that aren't made to be hydrophobic, it just depends on the chemical mixture. Cancoat's weakness is that it needs to remain thin to be able to be sprayed out, so per ounce, it's much less concentrated in terms of the various siloxanes due to more solvents needed to keep it more liquid-y.

Not arguing with you at all, just want people in general to know that beading and protection level are two different things.

Interestingly enough, if you were to judge protection only by beading, then nothing on the market lasts for more than a month except for true ceramic coatings lol

Re: Quickest application and longevity of protection

I’ve used the McKees 10 minute paint sealant in the past. It works similarly to Optiseal, can be used wet(drying aid) or dry(Spray sealant) and on all exterior surfaces.

As a drying aid it created a very slick surface and only required 1 pump per panel, larger panels(roof/hood) I’d use 2-3. It can leave an “oil-smear” effect just like Optiseal if applied to heavily, just come back with a dry towel and it picks it right up! Adds about a month of protection on a 24/7 outdoor daily driver.

As a spray sealant, you can apply it by towel, by applicator or directly to panel and spread it out. Same process, one spray per panel up to 2 maaaaaaybe 3 on larger panels. I was seeing about 3 months of protection on my car which again outside 24/7.

I must say I didn’t find it to be an extremely strong beader(still good though!) even when fresh. It didn’t impress me as much as I’d hoped, but unfortunately ceramics and the performance they offer will do that to you.

Sorta one of those “once you see it you can’t unsee it” type of situation.

If you were my neighbor and you asked me this question and had no products whatsoever, I’d give you my bottle of Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating and Wet Wax. It applies quickly, is very forgiving to first time users, and should give you what you’re looking for in a product. The Wet Wax is a great drying aid, tops up the protection, adds gloss and slickness.

So after all I’ve written what do I recommend.. just use what you’ve got! I’d at least give it a shot as a spray sealant and then once as a drying aid. You can test it’s performance, get an idea for it’s ease of use and see what you think of the product. Reviews are great but as with most things YMMV, so always best to try out what you’ve got.

Indeed. My 2 picks would be...

    1. TW HS Spray coating.
    2. TW HS Wet wax.

For sure. For the easy application and results of both products i personally can't see it being any better. For example, after a wash and the truck sits, then it rains, the truck dries spot free. Like the rain never happened. Cant see getting more hydrophobic than that.

    IMO:
Using a spray-on LSP is the quickest way
to apply a sacrificial barrier to a vehicle.

•A couple of my favorites in this category are:
-Meguiar’s Ultimate Quik Wax (the name says it all)
-Optimum Car Wax (has patented UV protection)
