    Why Do Bugs $#!% on White Paint But Not Other Colors ?

    So, we went to our cabin in the Hocking Hills for a couple of weeks to escape the extreme heat here in OH. While it doesn't have a garage, it does have a nice 2C carport and we had both our vehicles parked under there. Over the course of our stay, our pearl white vehicle regularly got covered with little black dots of bug excrement. But there was not one spec of the stuff on our other vehicle which is a very light sandstone metallic color and would definitely have shown any bug excrement as well. Do bugs have a fetish for crapping on white paint or what ?

    I say: Blame it on the phenomenon
    known as (positve) Phototaxis!!

    *******************************

    •Being that bugs are motile organisms;
    and:
    •Whether it’s during the daytime, or nighttime:
    -motile organisms are attracted to light.

    •White/lighter colored surfaces tend to
    reflect more light than “darker“ surfaces.

    •Consequently:
    -Bugs have quite the affinity towards clean,
    shiny, and reflective surfaces of White/lighter
    colored vehicles.

    Just a thought.

    Just like termites are attracted to light and white/light colored objects.

    This is the exact reason I stopped wearing those "tighty-whitey" underwear back in the 80's
