Allow me to explain why a white force hybrid pads usually work so well. The abrasives in the polish do most of the cutting. The pad provides “some” cut. Generally speaking a coarser pad has bigger open areas with harder or sharper foam. Problem with coarser pads is there isn’t as much surface area contacting the paint due to bigger pores in the foam. When you have more surface area of the pad with micro abrasives(3d one) between the pad and the paint, you are actually getting more work done over time. So while in 4 section passes a coarser pad will cut faster and perhaps leave its own marring behind. In situations where you are doing 6+ section passes, the white pad will actually out cut the other pad due to the abrasives in the 3D One doing the work and not the pad. It’s one reason a wool pad cuts so well.... along with being an abrasive itself, wool has a lot of surface area to allow the abrasives work between the wool and paint. This goes more so for non diminishing abrasives.

Again remember this is in a one step application. Key is number of passes. Now a two step, cutting with less passes is a benefit. In a one step, I’m more worried about finish quality with max cutting but under the realization I’m not going to get the paint 100%.

Does any of that make sense, Mark?
Hey Jim, thanks for the explanation. It does make sense. I have the 3401, 3D One, and white force pads. I will give this combo a shot. My new favorite one step polish!

I've used both, 3D One and Cut & Finish recently. I can't really compare the two. Same kind of pads, same polisher, same paint, same results, to me at least.

    From hard to soft paint.

No, you won’t get the same correction In the same amount of time with a long throw as a forced rotation DA because you can apply pressure and get zero pad stalling.

I would not say this is a no-dust product though, because temperature will dictate dusting if any. I can also use it with a solid 6 passes and get better results, just depends on what I'm trying to do.
Try using a bit more polish. Most likely will solve the dusting for you. I typically run a heavy continuous bead of One on the outside edge of the pad and get zero dusting.
