My new favorite one step polish!

Simple... Flex Beast, LC White Hybrid and 3D One.

I get a lot of variation in my details from one step to burnishing....perfect In between . This is such an amazing and easy combo for those interested. Cut is amazing, finish is amazing and time is saved.

If you are looking to exceed expectations, I suggest giving this a try. I did two details with this combo the last two days and I was blown away with the amount of correction and finishing capabilities.

What I have had work very well, is HDO Orange pad with 3D one, with The Last Cut added to the pad occasionally to give a bit more cut. Great finish too. I'm using a Boss15

Hey Jim, you would still use a white pad as a 1 step on hard paint? I definitely vary pad choice according to hardness for a 1 step.

Chances are yes. I find the white hybrid force pads and 3D one can accomplish the amount of correction I’m looking for on a one step polish job. Of course I will try different pads in my test areas.

Allow me to explain why a white force hybrid pads usually work so well. The abrasives in the polish do most of the cutting. The pad provides “some” cut. Generally speaking a coarser pad has bigger open areas with harder or sharper foam. Problem with coarser pads is there isn’t as much surface area contacting the paint due to bigger pores in the foam. When you have more surface area of the pad with micro abrasives(3d one) between the pad and the paint, you are actually getting more work done over time. So while in 4 section passes a coarser pad will cut faster and perhaps leave its own marring behind. In situations where you are doing 6+ section passes, the white pad will actually out cut the other pad due to the abrasives in the 3D One doing the work and not the pad. It’s one reason a wool pad cuts so well.... along with being an abrasive itself, wool has a lot of surface area to allow the abrasives work between the wool and paint. This goes more so for non diminishing abrasives.

Again remember this is in a one step application. Key is number of passes. Now a two step, cutting with less passes is a benefit. In a one step, I’m more worried about finish quality with max cutting but under the realization I’m not going to get the paint 100%.

Does any of that make sense, Mark?

What type of vehicle or paint did you work on? Do you think someone working with a non-forced rotation DA polisher would get the same results?

I use 3D One with Orange HD pads and a 21mm long throw DA. It's a good combo. What I like about it is that I can use it for my usual 4 passes and get great results. I would not say this is a no-dust product though, because temperature will dictate dusting if any. I can also use it with a solid 6 passes and get better results, just depends on what I'm trying to do.

Just to back-up what Jim shared,

See my most recent review of the 3D One Compound/Polish here,

Review: 3D Paint Coating and 3D One Cutting Compound and Finishing Polish

Besides cutting great and finishing down like a polish the forever-buffing-cycle, zero-dusting and easy wipe-off are great features for this category of product.

How would you compare 3D One to Sonax Cut & Finish?

They're both great product but to be honest - I would have to re-visit the SONAX Cut & Finish for a fresh experience in order to compare.

I do like the SONAX line of abrasive products - top shelf stuff.
