    MTM PF22.2 delivering watery foam

Hi detailers, I've got a new PF22.2 foam canon (the one with the wider bottle) and it is putting out watery foam. I have a cheapo Amazon canon that I use for just wheel/tire cleaner that works fine, so I know it's not a weak flow issue. I have a Comet 1700 pressure washer, BTW. I played around with increasing the amount of soap and even changed to a less-thick soap, but no change. I was beginning to think it was my hard water, but I put my usual car shampoo in my cheapo canon and that worked fine. I figured it must be the filter thingy, so I disassembled and reassembled the unit. No change. I ordered a new filter from MTM and tried that this weekend and no change. I know this is a good foam canon, but I'm not having much luck with it. Is there anyone else that has had trouble getting their PF22.2 to put out foam properly? Thanks

The Comet 1700 is rated at 2.2GPM, I don't think he needs the smaller orifice to produce thick foam. I would think the 1.25mm is good for his pressure washer.

Unfortunately I don't have other ideas about what could be wrong with yours. Maybe contact MTM support and see what they say.

I didn’t mention, but should have...Actually, that was the first thing I tried. My canon came with a 1.25 and 1.10 orifice. The output honestly looked the same with either. Thanks for the ideas. I think I will reach out to MTM.

Lol, I understand. Yup, I tinkered with the adjustment knob. It really didn’t change a lot between full positive and full negative, but it did change.

That pressure washer/cannon combo should be a kick-ass setup. Sure sounds like the PF 22.2 is the issue

Re: MTM PF22.2 delivering watery foam

I’ve had some back and forth communication with MTM, but have yet to get an answer. I’m hoping to know something soon. It’s definitely something with the unit.

-I’ve confirmed my setup will foam properly using a different brand of foam canon
-I’ve tried greater ratios of soap as well as brand
-I’ve fiddled with the canon’s controls, but they make little change to the foam
-I’ve taken the unit apart to make sure all parts are present and in proper order
-I’ve replaced the small “filter” with a brand new one directly from MTM.

Anyone else have this issue with the newly purchased PF22.2 foam canon?

Have you checked to make sure the pickup tube isn't kinking when you screw the top on.

On the original PF22 version with the top heavy bottle the pickup tube is a soft clear vinyl tubing and kinks easily. If I remember correctly I cut a tiny bit off so the tube dangled instead of touching the bottom of the bottle.

I use mine with a small Ryobi 1600 and it makes shaving cream with the 1.1 orfice.
