Seal & Shine .. To bead or not to bead

Just wondering if I'm ocd or what. I use TW Seal & Shine as a booster to Colinite 845. I apply it about every other wash.

When it rains, there are plenty of beads. However, when i wash, traditional 2 bucket style, the beads are flat and in places non existent. But when it rains again, the beading is back. I'm using Meguiars Deep Crystal wash.

Am I doing something wrong, or what? Thanks.

Beading is a function of surface tension. Detergents, surfactants, etc., in the car wash product will reduce the surface tension.

^^Agree with above. The car wash is masking the LSPs for a bit.

Yeah you actually don’t want the soap to bead. If it’s sheeting maybe Gold class not rinsing all the way off and then rain is removing what’s left. Try a better soap.

Optimum car wash or Megs hyper wash are good ones

I used TWSNS last year on a car. The beading was very good. I applied it directly to the paint though first. It doesn't do as well going on top of something. It's remarkably durable for the price point.

I’ve never used it myself, but I’ve always been of the impression that Meguiars Deep Crystal Car Wash is free of any “conditioners” that can tend to affect water behavior after a wash.

Source? Loach. Iirc he used to use an old batch of Deep Crystal Car Wash on his older videos due to it being a good pure car soap.

I have used Deep Crystal, and it does not contain conditioners or gloss enhancers, but I don’t believe it rinses very clean, leaving its surfactants behind. Kind of like the opposite of Hyper Wash.
