Transporting Gas Cans For Generator

Hello everyone, hope all of you guys are staying safe out there. So I recently picked up a honda EU2000i Generator and I do all of my detailing out of a 2019 kia forte. Just until I can get a van or truck which hopefully will be soon. My question to all of you is how would you recommend I transport the gas cans for my generator? I've never transported gas before. How do you guys transport them?

What ever you do, make sure you use containers with tightly sealed spouts & vents.

And do NOT let them get hot sitting in the car to point where the containers expand.

At the job site, remove them from the car and place them in the shade with the vents slightly open.

If the can has no vent (which I hate), just crack open the spout nut a bit.

Not really. Just make sure it (and the cans) are secured from shifting/moving.

I just want to cover all the saftey angles I can before beginning to transport my gas and generator. I dont want to just start doing it and make a huge mistake.

How long would you say is to long for the cans to be in the car before it starts to expand? I ask so I know when im driving from job to job if they've been sitting to long and need to come out.

I don't blame you.

Just use common sense like I have stated above. Tight seals, not letting them get hot, etc.

You will inevitably get a whiff of gas odor while transporting them in a tight space, but that is normal.

Gas scent (which your nose can detect), and gas FUMES (which will are overpowering and dangerous) are two quite different things.

Just be safe, DO NOT smoke while in transport, and you will be fine until you get a truck.

No set time, you just don't want them in a 90 degree heat, or direct sun until the point that they start to expand.

Ok, thank you for all the helpful info im kinda think what if I get one of these so the gas and generator isn't in the car.
